A metallic taste can occur if the kettle is new or if there is a build-up of mineral deposits such as limescale. To resolve this, boil and discard water two or three times before the first use. If the taste persists, descale the kettle using a mixture of water and white vinegar or a descaling solution, and rinse thoroughly before use.
